Midterm Summary

1.  Four major strands of work

Communication – Communication is the most important aspect of a class.  The communication in the classroom has been great, however the e-mails seem to have been lost in cyber space.  To deal with this is difficult, but I have asked other students for the information I am missing.  It has been confusing with all the off-campus meetings.

Research  - I really had fun doing my research.  Before I had not worked with genres and this course has open up a whole new door for me.

Technology – I like technology, it's an amazing thing!  However, it is also my enemy at times.  Like this semester, I can't receive e-mails from one class and yet I can for all my other courses. Frustrating.

Collaboration  - I really have enjoyed collaborating ideas with other UNM students after working with the students at Tibbits Middle School.

2.  Five dimensions of learning

Confidence and independence – Experience helps me feel more confident.  I have worked in the classroom before.  However, Middle School was a bit intimidating.  I was unsure of myself and that in itself made me uncomfortable.  It was good to get out of my comfort zone and try something new.  i still would like to stick with the little guys though.

Knowledge content – It has been so much fun to actually get to read books for the mere pleasure.  I have read with my step-children and by myself it has been a major bonding experience for me and my step-kidos.

Skills and Strategies – The use of literature circles in the classroom has always been an interest.  I have never paticipated in a Literatur Circle before this class.  They are really fun they remind me alot of Bible Study groups.  You enage with one another and in doing so you learn a grat deal about each other.

Use of prior and emerging experience – There is always new books to read.  I read some of the books I grew up with, but I also read so many more that I was encouraged to read by other educators.

Critical Reflection – I need to reaaly observe Literature Circles and analyze them.

Midterm Evaluation

I believe deserve an A for this course.  I have had some family issues this semester , but I have managed to do my best to keep up.

Fianl Summary

1.  Four major strands of work

Communication – Communication is the most important aspect of a class.  The communication in the classroom and outside of the classroom has been great.  Frances provided each of us with her cell phone number as well as her e-mail address.  I have found it easy to contact her whenever I have had a question.

Research  - I really had fun doing my research.  Before I had not worked with genres and this course has open up a whole new door for me.

Technology – I like technology, it's an amazing thing!  However, it is also my enemy at times.  Like this semester, when I was unable to receive e-mails from this one class.  I am laughing about it now, but then it was not much fun.

Collaboration  - I really have enjoyed collaborating ideas with other UNM students before and after working with the students at Tibbets Middle School.

2.  Five dimensions of learning

Confidence and independence – Experience helps me feel more confident.  I have worked in the classroom before.  However, Middle School was a bit intimidating in the begining, but now I can see why I was asked to work in a Middle School.  The students that I worked with were just BIG kids.  They didn't talk-Back or cuss.  I could teach Middle School!  It was good to get out of my comfort zone and try something new.  However, I still perfer the little guys

I believe deserve an A for this course.  I have had some family issues this semester, but I have managed to do my best to keep up.  This class has really been fun!  I enjoy reading and so do my step-kids, so here is a big THANK YOU Francis!
